Books

Books are useful in providing detailed information on a topic. Scholarly books contain in-depth analysis and bibliographies that are useful for finding additional information on your topic.

Use a Book:

  • when looking for a lot of information on a topic
  • to put your topic in context with other important issues
  • to find background information on your topic
  • to find summaries of research to support an argument

Use the Online Catalog or Electronic Books to view books and other material the library may have on leadership. Use the following subject headings to locate books and other materials on leadership:

Databases to Locate Articles on Leadership

The Business and Management databases will provide journal and news articles on leadership.  Use databases to retrieve current information from journals, magazines, and newspapers. 

Journals

Journals@ Sage list what journals, magazines, and newspapers the libraries have.

Scholarly Journals

Scholarly journals are devoted to providing original research and commentary on current developments within a specific discipline or field of study.  A scholarly journal article includes a list of works cited, and is subjected to a process of critical evaluation, which is known as peer-reviewed.  Always use scholarly journal articles when writing a research paper unless your professor authorizes the use of magazine and newspaper articles.
